The Inter-Tribe Community Support Forum in Kano has refuted claims that Mr. Peter Chukwudi Nwanosike was killed in retaliation for the recent Edo jungle justice incident.
The forum, in a statement issued on Monday, clarified that Mr. Nwanosike, a native of Abagana, Anambra State, was not stabbed to death as speculated but collapsed while fleeing from phone snatchers on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
The forum’s coordinator, Nworisa Michael, stated in the statement: “I personally visited the residence of the deceased to offer condolences to his widow and family. It is crucial to set the record straight and dispel misinformation.”
While condemning the attack, Michael urged the Commissioner of Police, Kano Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to reinforce security, particularly in marketplaces and areas with a high concentration of non-indigenous residents, to prevent further incidents of violence.

The clarification follows widespread speculation that Nwanosike’s death was linked to the recent jungle justice killing in Edo State, an incident that has sparked national outrage.
The forum commended HRH Fred Edozele Akhigbe (JP), Enogie II of Edo in Kano State, for his swift condemnation of the jungle justice killing, a move seen as essential in maintaining peace and preventing tensions from escalating.
Additionally, Michael acknowledged the proactive steps taken by the Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Yusuf, who has commissioned a high-level delegation to address the issue.
Reiterating the need for decisive action, the forum urged authorities to intensify security efforts and curb the activities of criminal elements exploiting the situation to instigate unrest.
He urged the authorities to take decisive action to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of all citizens, regardless of their tribe or nationality.

The statement reads: “The Inter-Tribe Community Support Forum wishes to address the recent incident involving Mr. Peter Chukwudi Nwanosike, a native of Abagana Anambra State who was attacked alongside several others by phone snatchers (yan kwace) on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Contrary to earlier reports, we would like to clarify that Mr. Chukwudi was not stabbed to death. Instead, he slumped and passed out while running from the attackers.
This morning, I personally visited the residence of the deceased to commiserate with his widow and offer our condolences to the family.
The forum condemns the senseless attack and calls on the Commissioner of Police, Kano Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to intensify security measures across Kano State.
This is particularly crucial in marketplaces and areas where citizens from other parts of the country reside, as thugs and mischievous elements may seek to exploit the situation and cause unrest.
