The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has dedicated his Politician of the Year Award from the Daily Times Newspaper to everyone who believes in his journey and continues to encourage him to serve.
Yilwatda received the award as part of activities marking the 100th anniversary of the Daily Times, describing the recognition as both an honour and a greater responsibility.
In a statement expressing his appreciation, the APC chairman said he was deeply honoured and humbled to be recognised by the newspaper, which he described as an institution that had witnessed, documented and shaped a century of Nigeria’s history.
He said the award was more than an accolade, stressing that it came with a renewed responsibility to continue serving the people with courage, integrity and purpose.
“This is not just an award; it is a profound recognition that comes with a greater responsibility,” Yilwatda said.
He noted that public service should ultimately be measured not by titles or awards, but by the positive difference made in the lives of the people.
The APC national chairman expressed gratitude to his supporters and others who had continued to encourage him throughout his journey, saying the recognition was appreciated but the responsibility it carried was greater.
He also commended the management and editorial team of the Daily Times for the honour and for sustaining the newspaper’s legacy over the past century.
“100 years of Daily Times is 100 years of Nigeria. Congratulations!” he said.
Yilwatda reaffirmed his commitment to the journey of public service, declaring: “The recognition is appreciated; the responsibility is greater. The journey continues.”
