Recall that on Monday Obi attended the inauguration of the campaign office of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Abuja.

The campaign office was inaugurated in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as political activities and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections intensify.

Obi’s presence at the event has further fueled discussions about possible political alignments among opposition figures ahead of the elections.

However, Obi, on his verified X handle on Tuesday said he attended the event to promote the emergence of a new Nigeria founded on unity, love, justice, mutual respect and inclusion.

Read also: Otti Unveils Abia LP Campaign Council, Names Orji Isiala Ngwa North Coordinator

According to him, his decision to attend the event was particularly important at a time when political contests could become unnecessarily contentious and divisive.

Obi stressed that Nigerian politicians must ensure that their shared love for the country remains greater than their political differences.

He urged fellow presidential candidates to focus their campaigns on ideas and practical solutions capable of addressing the country’s major challenges, including insecurity, poverty, hunger, inequality and the rising number of out-of-school children.

“Let us compete on ideas that will unite our people, improve their lives, and restore hope to our nation, while maintaining respect, decency, and love for one another,” Obi said.
