Manchester City have moved to the top of the Premier League table after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Coventry City on Saturday.
The win maintained City’s perfect start to the 2026/27 campaign, with the reigning champions recording three victories from their opening three matches.
Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the encounter, heading home a cross from Antoine Semenyo in the first half to secure all three points for Enzo Maresca’s side.
The victory gives City nine points from three games and puts them clear at the summit, while several of their closest rivals are yet to play their third fixtures.
Haaland’s goal was also a landmark moment, taking his career club tally to 300 goals.
City will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Manchester United at Old Trafford, with the derby set to provide another major test of Maresca’s unbeaten start.
The result against Coventry also extended City’s winning run as they continue their campaign under Maresca following Pep Guardiola’s departure.
