He charged members to identify, document and compile infrastructure projects being executed by federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), stressing that their assignment should extend beyond the Federal Ministry of Works to cover other government institutions.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the ministry, Mohammed A. Ahmed, the initiative is designed to strengthen infrastructure-related communication, mobilisation and public sensitisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Umahi said the team should provide a comprehensive account of infrastructure investments across the six geopolitical zones, highlighting projects being implemented by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He specifically tasked the Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement for the six geopolitical zones, appointed as zonal coordinators, alongside other members and the secretary of the office, to work together in identifying and documenting relevant projects in their respective areas.
The minister explained that existing publicity activities by the Federal Ministry of Works and the Senior Special Assistants would continue, while the newly inaugurated office would establish a broader framework for coordinating information on infrastructure projects undertaken by other MDAs.

He urged members to demonstrate commitment, professionalism and cooperation, noting that effective communication was necessary to ensure that information on government projects was accurately documented and made accessible to the public.
Umahi also highlighted the role of infrastructure development in stimulating economic activities, connecting communities and creating opportunities across different sectors of the economy.
He said infrastructure investment remained a key driver of national development and community integration.
Speaking on the Federal Government’s adoption of continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) technology in road construction, the minister said the approach was helping to reduce dependence on imported bitumen while promoting the use of local resources and expertise.
According to him, the technology also supports domestic economic activities, reduces foreign exchange demand associated with imported road construction materials and promotes durable infrastructure delivery.
